TYPOGRAPHY 1 PROJECTS

I created drop cap letters out of the human form, my own Art Deco inspired version of Blackletter as a font, snowboards which incorporated my Quill Alphabet letters, and a Rockwell type posters which include different distinguishing features of the typeface itself.

TYPOGRAPHY 1 EXERCISES

I created a quick reference of different packaging and logo designs which included typography in my Field Notes exercise. I experimented with different textures and sizes of blackletter and relate them to animals. In the final exercise I experimented with laying out the letters 'G' and Q' in an arrangement of a face.

TYPOGRAPHY 2 PROJECTS

This course is a continued exploration of typographic form and aesthetics with additional study of the intention, reason, and function of type. Students will refine their typographic design skills through pragmatic application and industry-specific projects. Discussions will include historical and contemporary influences. Exposure to successful work by influential designers will encourage learning through inspiration. Further course emphasis is on verbal presentation skills, critique, self-documentation, and process evaluation. Kinetic type using time-based media will be explored at an introductory level.
